WASHINGTON COUNTY – At approximately 2:30 p.m. on April 17, Washington County Deputy Landon Fries entered a Vernon business where he saw a female known to have an active warrant in Washington County.
Fries exited the business and waited for the subject outside. Once the subject exited the building, she ignored all commands from Fries and attempted to leave the premises.
Deputy Fries was able to stop 33 year old, Kayleen Latanya Strukel and place her under arrest for the active warrant.
While being transported to the Washington County Jail, Deputy Fries noticed a large amount of movement and what appeared to be the maneuvering of an object by Strukel. With reasonable suspicion raised resulting in a search of his patrol car, Fries located a container in the back seat of his cruiser that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Strukel was booked into the Washington County Jail for the outstanding warrant and is also being charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and felony tampering with evidence.
