VERNON - A Vernon woman was booked into the Washington County Jail Wednesday on charges of marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
According to a report by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Hannah Shepherd, 19, was arrested after Deputy Daryl White observed her driving around Vernon in a manner "that caused concern."
Deputy White stopped Shepherd's the vehicle to ascertain whether the driver was lost and to warn her against the use of a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle.
While speaking with Shepherd, Deputy White noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Shepherd admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle, and upon further investigation, the deputy located marijuana loose in a jar, marijuana packaged for re-sale, a pipe, sandwich bags, and a notepad with distribution amounts and prices.
Shepherd also had $741.00 in cash in her possession, telling the deputy: “I buy enough to use and sell to friends so that I can make up what I spend.”
Shepherd was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail.
