HOLMES COUNTY - A Mississippi man was killed while traveling westbound near mile marker 113 on Interstate 10 around 5:19 p.m. Sunday.

Florida Highway Patrol reports Christopher J. Pearson, 20, of Byram, Mississippi, left the roadway and traveled onto the grassy center median. He overcorrected, steering to the right and causing his 2000 Toyota Tundra to leave the roadway and going onto the north shoulder of I-10.

The truck traveled for a short distanced before its left side collided with a highway advisory sign.

Pearson was pronounced deceased on scene as a result of the injures he sustained in the crash.

Charges are pending the completion of the traffic homicide investigation.

Pearson was wearing his seatbelt, and results of alcohol testing are still pending.
