Westville Eggstravaganza an egg-cellent success

WESTVILLE — Hundreds gathered for this year’s Westville Eggstravaganza as seven churches collaborated an eggxtreme outreach with an Easter egg hung consisting of 23,000 eggs and a raffle for 30 bicycles and over 30 large Easter baskets held on March 30 at D.D. Eldridge Park in Westville.

“These churches and their pastors have prayed over these bicycles and they’ve prayed over these baskets and they’ve prayed for this event today,” said West Pittman Baptist Church Pastor Eddie Eaton. “We are glad that you all are here to help us celebrate Easter together.”

“We’ve got the fire department to blow their siren and when they blows that means go,” said Eaton advised the parents and children just before assigning each age group a field to hunt eggs. “I think our record so far is just a little under seven minutes, so we’re going to see if we can beat that.”

Those seven churches holding the event are Beulah Anna Baptist Church, Evergreen Baptist Church, Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Leonia Baptist Church, Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church and West Pittman Baptist Church.
