The O'Brien Photo Gallery is hosting an opening reception for new exhibit "Flower Abstractions."
A collection of abstract and surreal images with a sharp focus, artist Charles Jones uses photo stacking to capture flowers as small as one quarter of an inch to producing images at up to 50 times magnification. Some of his images involved stacking more than 100 photos taken at different focal distances. Aside from his work with photography, Jones is a retired mathematician who had a career in the aerospace industry that included coordinating research with small businesses and universities.
"Flower Abstractions" is on display through July 12. The opening artist reception takes place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the O'Brien Photo Gallery, 2833 Willamette, Suite B. Information: www.obrienimaging.com/gallery.
