Brock announces for elections supervisor

"My name is Jerry Brock, and I am seeking the office of Supervisor of Elections. I am a fifth generation resident of Washington County. I was born and raised in Vernon, Florida and graduated from Vernon High School in 1968. Shortly after graduation I entered the United States Air Force where I spent 22 years retiring honorably in 1992. I am a Vietnam Veteran. During my time in service Washington County remained my home. Upon retiring from the Air Force, I came back to Vernon. I spent the next 3 years substituting as a teacher in the Washington County School System, while attending Washington-Holmes Technical Center using my G.I. bill where I completed and received a certificate in computer programming. In 1995 I was hired by Washington County as the 9-1-1 Director, where I have been for the last 13 years. "

1968 Graduate of Vernon High School

1978 Graduate of Gulf Coast Community College

1980 Graduate of University of West Florida (B.S. in Management)

1992 Retired From Air Force After 22 years (Vietnam Veteran)

1995 Graduate of Washington-Holmes Technical Center With Computer Programming Degree

1995 Started Working As 9-1-1 Director For Washington County till present

GOALS:
1. Make another early voting location in the county.
2. I would work on some kind of election sign ordinance so that signs are not put up six or eight months before an election and that they are fined if not picked up by a certain time.

3. Improve the current web site so candidates running for office can file their financial statements online without having to come having to take time to come by the office.
4. Work with the commissioners to try and get the district lines more evenly drawn out. This can only be done in odd years. It is not done solely by the Supervisor of Elections.
5. Results of elections would be listed by precincts as soon as the information was available.
6. Install a door at the East end of the Supervisor of Elections office, for early voting, so voter's would not have to come in the front door and be confronted by the current Supervisor of Elections.
7. Be proactive in keeping the voter's addresses up to date. I think I can work with the Post Office, 911, Tax Collector and Property Appraiser in making this happen.
8. Keep the voter database up to date by checking with hospitals, funeral homes, and obituaries, not only in our county, but in surrounding counties.

As Supervisor of Elections I will do the very best job possible to make you proud of your decision. Please check out my web site www.jerrybrock.com for more detailed and in-depth information on myself and my goals.
