Crystal Village advocated for road maintenance
CHIPLEY – Chairman of the Washington County Board of County Commissioners Bill Howell advocated for the residents of Crystal Village that all roads in that area need to get maintenance and get it soon. Howell made these remarks during the regularly scheduled BOCC meeting on August 27.
“All these people pay taxes just like every resident of Washington County and their roads are in serious need of maintenance,” said Howell. “The Board needs to make a decision on whither or not we’re going to take and maintain these roads.”
The Board agreed to table the idea for further review and discussion at the next scheduled Board meeting.
The Board reviewed a request from Ebro for a surplus vehicle and approved of sending them a ’97 Chevy S10 pick-up they had purchased from the Department of Transportation’s surplus in 2003.
County Engineer Cliff Knauer gave his review of the county projects progress, which included the completion of St. Mary’s Bridge.
“We’ve had the bridge inspected and it’s open and ready to be used,” said Knauer.
Also approved was the reduction of the speed limit on Clayton Road from State Road 77 to Falling Waters, from 55 to 45 miles per hour.
The Board approved renewing the annual contract between the Board and the Washington County Health Department to “continue Environmental Health Services, Communicable Disease Control Services and Primary Care Services for the county.”
The Board approved the State Aid to Libraries Grant Agreement, where they agree to make an application under Chapter 257 Statutes and Guidelines for the State Aid to Program.
