May 1st is Due Date for Florida Businesses to File Annual Reports
TALLAHASSEE, Fla (April 27, 2009) – May 1st is the end of the 2009 Annual Report filing season. Every business entity (corporation, limited liability company, and limited partnership) with “active” status is required to file an annual report each year with the Department of State, Division of Corporations to maintain “active” status.
If the annual report is filed after May 1st, a late fee is required to be imposed on for-profit corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships.
“The Division is encouraging all Florida businesses to file before the May 1st deadline - the earlier the better so that any errors can be corrected before the deadline,” stated Jay Kassees, director of the Division of Corporations.
The quickest, easiest, and most secure manner is to file the annual report online from the Division’s website. The website is http://www.Sunbiz.org “How to file the annual report” appears on the front page of the website and payment can be with a credit card, prepaid account, or check. Filing fees are set by statute and vary by entity type, but when you file online the fees are figured for you. Filing online is quick, easy, and secure.

The Division of Corporations estimates that Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday an additional approximately 120,000 will file. This will put us at approximately one million filings by 11:59 p.m. May 1. This is approximately 100,000 more filings than the same time last year.
