GCCC Visual and Performing Arts Division Chair Receives Distinguished Career Award
PANAMA CITY – Rosie O’Bourke, chair of the Visual & Performing Arts Division at Gulf Coast Community College, was recently recognized with the 2009 Distinguished Career Award for Colleges and Universities. This singular award, presented at the annual Florida Theatre Conference, was given in recognition of O’Bourke’s many years of service and dedication to the Florida theatre community.
The Florida Theatre Conference, Inc. is a non-profit, educational theatre organization founded in 1956 for the purpose of providing programs and services to individuals and group memberships. Its membership is unique, comprehensive, and intended to include all theatre organizations and individuals interested in theatre in the state of Florida.
The goals of the Florida Theatre Conference are to celebrate the diversity of Florida Theatre, nurture communications among the various theatre constituencies, advance the highest possible standards of theatre, and encourage public appreciation of the art form.
This weekend, O’Bourke will be performing in Love Letters, a Pulitzer Prize nominated play centering on two people that have led separate lives, but for nearly 50 years have written each other letters discussing their hopes, dreams, victories and defeats. The performance will be held in the Amelia Center Theatre Lab. For more information or to purchase advance tickets, please contact Sherri Renfroe at 872-3886.
