“Kid's College” Now Registering for Summer Program
Panama City, FL - Gulf Coast Community College is accepting registrations for the third annual “Kids College.” The popular summer program is designed for kids entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade who want to combine fun and education this summer. A variety of tracks are offered to encompass many student interests:
- Tech Academy: Students will be introduced to technology as they build Lego Mind Storm robots, tour the WKGC FM/AM/HD radio station, participate in digital photography and editing classes, create Web pages, and much more.
- Art from A to Z: Students will be introduced to performing and visual arts programs as they participate in a variety of hands-on and interactive sessions featuring ceramics, piano, drama, music production technology, mosaics, and more.
- Healthy Career Options: Students will be introduced to careers in health sciences such as Surgical Technician, Radiography, Physical Therapy Assistant, Respiratory, and Emergency Medical Services, just to name a few. Students will also learn about the importance of nutrition and fitness through special supplemental programs in this track provided by the Bay County Health Department.
- Science Exploration: Students entering this track will have hands-on experience in meteorology, forensics, earth sciences, zoology, chemistry, marine sciences, and more. This will be a fun and fast paced, interactive journey through the sciences.
Dates: July 19 – 23 and July 26 – 30
Times: Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Cost: $120 per week (meals not included)
