USDA to hold federal energy symposium
GAINESVILLE — An energy symposium that will cover rural energy programs available through the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development will be held next week in Gainesville
The energy symposium will be conducted from 9:30 am. – 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 11 at Santa Fe College at 3000 NW 83rd Street, Room R-01 in Gainesville.
USDA Rural Development administers a variety of federal programs to assist rural areas. The energy symposium will focus on funding for the development and commercialization of renewable energy sources to change the way people power their homes, businesses, industries and transportation. By making renewable energy sources commercially viable, USDA Rural Development is also creating sustainable opportunities for wealth, new jobs and increased economic activity in rural America.
Energy programs to be discussed include Rural Energy for America Program, Value Added Producer Grant Program, Business and Industry (B&I) Guaranteed Program, Biomass Research and Development Program, Biorefinery Assistance Program, Repowering Assistance Program and Bioenergy Program for Advanced Biofuels.
Speakers include USDA representatives from Washington, DC and the Rural Development Florida State Office. The symposium will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn about financing for businesses, agricultural producers, and nonprofits.
