Chipley driver injured in wreck in Southport

SOUTHPORT - A Chipley man suffered minor injuries in a wreck Saturday in Bay County, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Sara K. Barnes of Southport northbound on State Road 77, in the right lane. Johnson pulled out into the path of Barnes’ vehicle off Spikes Road. The front of Barnes’ 1997 Mazda collided with Johnson’s left front wheel. Johnson’s Ford F-150 pickup spun around in the northbound lanes of State Road 77, coming to rest facing east. Barnes was entrapped in the vehicle, due to the significant damage to her vehicle, and she had to be extricated by emergency personnel.

Johnson’s passenger, Norma L. Whitehead of Southport suffered minor injuries. Barnes suffered serious injuries. All three were taken to Bay Medical Center for treatment.

Johnson is charged with violation of right of way.
