Wanda Kay Kelly

Wanda Kay Kelly, 44, of St. Bernard Parish in Louisiana died there recently. She was a native of Mathiston, Miss. She was the daughter of the late Sue Smith Kelly, and Billy Kelly.

She had worked as a Merchant Marine during the past three years. She loved the outdoors, nature and animals.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Kelly Boone; a brother, Bobby Dale Kelly; sister-ins-law, Chei Dewberry Kelly, Betty Sue Power and Laura Kelly. Survivors include a daughter, Tara Ann Kelly; a sister, Barbara Kelly Boone; brothers, Billy and Jack Kelly, Roy C. Kelly and Danny Lamar Kelly; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Aug. 17 at Celebration Church in Metarie, La.,

Burial was private.

Loyd B. Turner

Loyd Buren Turner, 79, of Graceville died Aug. 12 following an extended illness. He was born March 4, 1928, in Hartford, Ala., son of Buren and Irene Turner of Hartford.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Turner moved to Graceville in 1928 with his wife and daughter. They owned and operated Turner’s Service Station and Grocery Store on Highway 77 south for 13 years. Loyd was employed by Jackson County School Board as a school bus driver for 16 years. he was retired at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Williams Turner, one daughter, Deborah Odom and husband, Danny, all of Graceville; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Marcelle Turner of Dothan, Ala., a sister, Helen Anderson of Hartford; two grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and their families.

Services were held Aug. 14 at Williams Funeral Home in Graceville with the Rev. Huey Hughes officiating. Burial followed at New Prospect Cemetery in Hartford with Williams Funeral Home of Graceville in charge of arrangements.

Billy C. Alford

Billy Chole Alford, 14, of Marianna died Aug. 7 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville following a long battle with cancer. He was born March 11, 1993, in Tallahassee and spent his life in Marianna.

Alford loved spending time fishing with his father, and enjoyed four-wheelers and racing cars.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Kennie J. Alford.

Survivors include his parents, Edward Allen and Wendy Michelle Bundrick; one sister, Alyson Michelle Bundrick, and his paternal grandmother, Lee Ann Bundrick, all of Marianna.

Services were held Aug. 13 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bo Senterfitt officiating.

Burial was at Hasty Pond Church Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Barbara Scott

Barbara Ann (Nichols) Scott, 56, of Five Points Road in Cottondale died Aug. 4 at her home. She was born in Marianna Sept. 11, 1950, and had spent most of her life in Jackson County. Scott was employed as a rehab therapy supervisor at Florida State Hospital for 35 years. She dedicated her life to family and friends and had a unique talent for creating floral arrangements.

Survivors include her parents, Earl and Louise Nichols of Marianna; two daughters and a son-in-law, Candace and Jim Whitman of Pensacola, and Paige Scott of Marianna; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia Williams of Marianna, Cheryl and James Barwick of Grand Ridge; two brothers, Donnie Nichols and special friend, Susan Bechstein, of Tallahassee, Clayton Nichols and wife, Angie, of Marianna; one grandson, 10 nieces and nephews, two great-nieces and one great-nephew, and many friends.

Services were held Aug. 7 at Marianna Church of God with the Rev. Ron Freeman officiating.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Roy D. Searcy

Roy Douglas Searcy, 65, of Bonifay died Aug. 14 at Southeast Alabama Medical center in Dothan, Ala. He was born June 23, 1942, in Geneva, Ala.

Survivors include a son, John Wayne Searcy of Bonifay; stepson, Steve Loomis of Panama City,; two stepdaughters, Johnna Ostrie of San Diego, Calif, and Cheryl Ann Loomis of Panama City; and a grandson. Services were Aug. 16 at Oak Grove Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Tracy Hobbs officiating.

Burial was in Pleasant Home Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.

Kathy D. Wells

Kathy Dianne Rogers Wells, 43, of Cottondale died Aug. 7 at her home. She was born Aug. 13, 1953, in Frankfurt, Germany, to George W. and Helen M. Rogers of Cottondale.

She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she enjoyed working with preschool children and youth. A homemaker, she assisted handicapped and elderly citizens.

Wells was preceded in death by her grandparents, Loyis and Aseneth Seay of Cottondale and James and Nettie Rogers of Oklahoma. Survivors include her husband, Thomas L. Wells of Cottondale; a son, Eric G. Wells of Cottondale and his special friend, Torrie Hilty of Bonifay; one daughter, Arin Hope Odom and husband, Bryan, of Chipley; one grandchild; two special little girls, Hanna and Leah Hilty of Bonifay; two sisters, Nettie A. Hayes of Alford and Sheila Perena and husband, Edwin, of Tallahassee; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Annie Lee Wells; a sister-in-law, Lynn Cain, and husband, Olen Cain, of Pelham, Ga.; one brother-in-law, David Wells of Hahira, Ga.; five nieces, four nephews, four great nieces and six great-nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held Aug. 10 at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cottondale with the Rev. Jackie Register and Olen Cain officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
