Local Woman Killed in Accident
BONIFAY - On the evening of December 20, Westbound on I-10 just West of the Highway 79 Exit in Bonifay, at 9:43 p.m., a 2002 Lincoln 4 door car, driven by Janice Gail Hodges of DeFuniak Springs, was traveling in the outside lane, with a 1997 Ford Pickup driven by Kayla Ann Dady Miller of Westville also in the outside lane behind her.
Miller lost control of her vehicle as she tried to pass Hodges. The right side of Hodges vehicle collided with the left side of Miller’s vehicle. After the two vehicles collided Hodges vehicle came to rest on the outside westbound grass shoulder.
Miller’s vehicle came to a rest on the inside westbound grass median after the left side of her car collided with a tree in the median. Seatbelts were in use by all involved in the accident and alcohol was not a factor.
Kayla Ann Dady Miller, 22 of Westville was pronounced deceased at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.
Her passenger, Matthew Beasley, 28, of Clarksville Tn., had minor injuries and was transported to Doctor’s Memorial Hospital in Bonifay.
Janice Gail Hodges, 62, of DeFuniak Springs, had no injuries and was not transported.
