“God Help Me”
Sometimes I wonder if we try to place to much on ourselves. What I mean by this is that sometimes I go for days trying to workout some problem I have before I even ask God for His help. I know I should go to Him immediately in prayer and ask Him to help me. We have been promised in Hebrews 13:5 that God has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” God is always waiting for His children to come to Him in prayer.
I also think sometimes we do not realize that maybe there are things that we need help correcting. I believe it helps to take the time out of each day and truly pray for God’s help. Not only for help to correct some of the things we know and realize are wrong, but also to ask God to help us see things we need to correct that we may not realize. Many times this takes us humbling ourselves and looking inside of ourselves to see some of our real short comings.
I believe for the most part, those who call themselves a child of God want to do what’s right. Unfortunately, there are those who have led them astray and lead them to believe false doctrines. If we truly want what God wants we will pray that we will be led to the truth and that God will open our eyes. I believe this all starts with a humble and sincere heart going to God in prayer.
The following thoughts are from a gospel preacher by the name of Dee Bowman. “God, please help me not to grumble about how I’m treated. Just let me learn from it how to treat others. God, help me not to judge harshly. Just help me judge righteous judgment, the kind where everybody concerned benefits from the decision. God, help me to restrain my speech. But help me not to restrain it too much, especially when something needs be said. God, help me not to be scared. Just help me to realize that when Thou art with me, nothing or nobody can hurt me. God, help me to see better. Just help me to see past what is way out front, where it really matters. God, help me not to be partial. Just help me to have Jesus’ attitude toward people, all people, the same attitude that drove Him to the cross. And God, help me to understand. Just help me to see, as best as I am capable of seeing, why things are how they are, and if and how I can help make them better. But most of all, God, forgive me. I have failed so often. Just give me some more time and some more mercy and I’ll try to do better. God, help me.”
