Bonifay Garden Club Holds Colorful Spring Meeting

Bonifay Garden Club met for their monthly luncheon and program on Friday, April 10 at Simbo’s Restaurant with Joan (Manuel) Steverson, Fay Helms, and Eva Rich as hostesses.

The business session, with Pres. Hazel Tison, presiding opened with Edna McDonald giving the devotional on the use of our time. Minutes and treasurers reports were given. The beautiful decorations of spring tulips were given to six members as door prizes.

Business included a report on the beautification project at the Hospital court yard where the pots have been filled with multicolored petunias. Maxine Strickland club member and also Hospital Auxiliary member agreed to see to the watering and feeding of the plants.

Annie Thompson gave an interesting demonstration on arranging yard flowers. Some of those arrangements were also given as door prizes.

May 8th will be the next meeting when the nominating committee will bring a recommendation for new officers for the two-year term starting in September. New officers will then be installed. A special feature of the meting will be an auction of items brought by club members. This can consist of plants from the club members’ yards; white elephants from about the home; or any item of interest. Members are urged to bring at least one item for the auction and be prepared to bid. Visitors and prospective members are also welcome. Dues of $12 are due at this our final meeting until September.
