More Panhandle Track Club members earn national berths

GAINESVILLE - Four individuals and three relay teams from the Panhandle Track Club placed high enough on Sunday in the state AAU meet to qualify for the national event in August.

John Franklin won the 200 in the young men category. In the submidget class, Christopher Byas qualified in two events. Byas finished second in the shot put and third in discus. Jahvon Coleman was second in the discus. The other individual qualifier was Kinna Patton who finished fourth in the intermediate 800.

Patton teamed with Kayla Creamer, Megan Thorpe and Nicole Daniels to secure a berth in the 4x400 relay with a fourth-place finish.

The young men's 4x400 relay finished fourth with Terrrance Lowder, Emory Coleman, Lawrence Williams and Bruce Davis. Three members of that team, Davis, Williams and Coleman, combined with Carlos Wells to earn a berth in the 4x100 after a third-place finish.
