PRIMARY ELECTION: AUGUST 26, 2008
Book closing
The book closing date for the August 26, 2008 Primary is July 28, 2008. First-time voters in the state of Florida, and voter’s who want to change their party affiliation for the August primary, must file an application by the book closing date. Florida is a closed primary state. Voters will be issued a party-specific ballot and will not be able to change their party at the polls.
Early Voting
Early Voting for the Primary election begins August 11, 2008, at the Supervisor of Elections office located at 1331 South BLVD, Suite 900, Chipley, FL. Voters must present photo and signature identification, or vote a provisional ballot. A Florida driver license or identification card will meet these requirements. Absentee Ballot Requests
The elections office has already received nearly 900 requests for absentee ballots. Voters may continue to request ballots up to 4 p.m. August 20th. Requests can be made in person, by mail, by telephone, or by email on our website at www.wcsoe.org .
Absentee ballots will automatically be mailed to your address of record unless otherwise requested. They are NOT FORWARDABLE. It is permissible to mail them to an alternate address, but that address MUST BE on file at the elections’ office.
Sample Ballots
Sample ballots for the August 26, 2008 Primary Election will be mailed to all registered voters approximately three weeks prior to the election and in time for early voting.
The Elections’ office recommends that voters mark their sample ballots and take it with them to the polls or to early vote. In this way, voters can make their selections without the distractions of the polling place and being prepared will expedite the voting process.
