Jesus is the resurrection and the life

As important as the crucifixion was, and don’t ever think that I am belittling the great sacrifice our beloved Savior made for us, without the resurrection where would we be today?

The real reason we have Easter Sunday is to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. The crucifixion and the resurrection of our Lord is exactly where we receive the power of God to save and redeem us from our sins, through His forgiveness. Thank God; and thank You, Jesus for your immeasurable love for us.

Some call it Easter Sunday, and some call it Resurrection Sunday, but really I don’t think it matters, as long as we remember the real reason for it. In. St. John 11:25-26 we find these words spoken by Jesus, Himself: “….I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth on Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth on Me shall never die….”

We have much to look forward to and to enjoy. One day, not too long from now, we will see our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ coming in the clouds of Heaven, with power and great glory. If we are ready to meet Him, we will rise to meet Him in the air.

The Word says that the dead in Christ will rise first, and then we who are alive and remain on this earth will be caught up with them, to meet Jesus in the air and so will we ever be with the Lord. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God, what a great time that will be.

However, this needs to be said, only those who are Christians will go with Jesus when He comes. This is called the first resurrection for God’s people. If you are not ready, get ready, for His coming will be very soon now. We will rule and reign with Him for 1,000 years.

Then those that remain in their graves until that time will be raised also, then they will be judged for the deeds done while they lived on this earth. Their final destination will be in the flames of Hell. I pray that you will wake up and repent of your sins so Heaven will be your destination.

Easter is all about the time Jesus took the awful beating, wore the crown of thorns and of many other things that happened to Him before He was crucified. He endured such torture and severe pain in our behalf because He loved us so much, and He did not want us to go through such suffering.

He took it on Himself so that we could receive salvation and forgiveness for our sins. But Praise the Lord, He was dead for only three days and nights, then He arose and all of our sin and sicknesses paid for, even while we were yet sinners. So it is up to us to receive or to reject what He did for us.

He endured all of this, Hebrews 12:2 says, for the joy that was set before Him. You might wonder why that verse said, “for the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross, despising the shame.” The joy that was spoken of here was the knowledge that it was for us; so that we might escape such pain and suffering ourselves. Doesn’t that tell you something about the love He had for us?

Think about it carefully friend, and then you can understand and know why He is the resurrection and the life. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow. Never forget, “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
