A blow for liberty
To the Editor:
On June 26, the U.S. Supreme Court by a 5-4 decision, struck a blow for liberty.
In Washington, D.C., it was illegal to own a handgun and you could only own a shot gun or rifle if it was disabled and stored away from your ammunition. This, of course, made things very convenient for the D.C. criminal.
The court ruled that law-abiding citizens have an individual right through the second amendment to the Constitution to keep guns for protection.
I predict that home invasions, robberies and the crime rate in general will drop significantly in D.C. because of this ruling.
The Liberals will never admit that gun ownership lowers the crime rate, so they will have to invent some other reason when the crime rate drops.
The way things are looking, maybe they will say crime dropped because President Obama built a basketball court on every street corner for the poor unemployed youths of D.C.

| That vote was far too close for comfort. It seems that common sense is the exception and not the rule. |
