Chipola Hosts FBLA District Awards Ceremony
MARIANNA—Chipola College hosted the 2011 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) District II Awards ceremony, Feb. 17, in the college Arts Center.
Chipola executive vice president Dr. Sarah Clemmons welcomed the group of middle and high school students from 11 area schools along with their advisers and parents. District 2 FBLA advisers are Melissa Baxley and Patricia Bearden.
The Chipola Theatre department entertained the crowd with scenes and songs from the upcoming musical “Little Shop of Horrors.” Following the entertainment, district officer candidates presented campaign speeches and elections were held.
Awards were then presented in over 50 competitive and skills events from the areas of technology, public speaking, business, finance and management. First place winners in the various events qualify to compete in the state FBLA Leadership Conference in Orlando in April.
FBLA-PBL is an organization dedicated to helping business students prepare for their future careers. Middle and high school FBLA students build portfolios of documented accomplishments to complement academic experience and also participate in business and leadership programs to enhance leadership skills.
