Get informed about Sand Hills water situation

I seldom get alarmed about what is going on in this world to the point it is necessary for me to publicly speak out, but that is the case with this issue.  Bay County is now proposing to place up to thirty water wells just south of the Washington County line to pump from the ground to supply their needs along with selling water to other users including Washington County.  According to what I have found out from information contained in the news and other places, Bay County is now trying to get approval from the North West Florida Water Management to start drilling these wells.  This approval will open the door for up to 30,000,000 gallons of water a day to be removed from under us.

Those of us, who have been around this area awhile, remember well when First American Farms was pumping water out for irrigation back in the late 60's and early 70'.  Every time their pumps went on you could see the water go down on many of the lakes significant amounts.  Their irrigation system was pumping far less than the millions proposed by Bay County.  River Pond, Big Island, Crystal, Big Blue, and many other lakes were compromised during this time.

I would like to ask each of you to take time and go to www.savesandhilllakes.com to find out more about what I have stated above.  You can also check the archive section of local papers to find out more also.  Then make up you own mind about joining their efforts to stop the proposed robbing of water from our area.  Our lakes and the wonderful area we live in will no longer be as it is now if they are allowed to proceed with this project.
