VERNON– VHS will celebrate Black History Week Feb. 19-22. The theme for this year’s program is “At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality: The Emancipation and the March on Washington.” School activities will include the showing of the historical film Red Tails in the library, Feb. 19, an Open-Mic Freedom of Expression Day during both lunches, Feb. 20, a viewing of A Raisin in the Sun honoring Lorraine Hansberry, Feb. 21, and Soul Food Day, Feb. 22. There will also be a program that is open to the public beginning at 9:45 a.m., Feb. 22, in the high school auditorium. Students will perform theatrical expression skits during the ceremony.
