CHIPLEY — A big congratulations goes out to the Chipley FFA Show Team for their accomplishment at the Florida State Fair held in Tampa February 7-12.


CHIPLEY — A big congratulations goes out to the Chipley FFA Show Team for their accomplishment at the Florida State Fair held in Tampa February 7-12.



The Show Team consisted of Senior Emily Clark, Senior Taylor Birge, Junior Matt Fisher, Sophomore Carol Boswell, and Sophomore Alena Blevins.  The Show Team went up against other FFA Chapters within the State of Florida.  Some the Team went up against 15 heifers in their class.



Emily Clark took her hog, Watson, who weighed 255 lbs and was awarded 2nd place in her class.



Taylor Birge took her heifers Binks and Kubota. Taylor was awarded 3rd overall in Senior Showmanship.  Taylor also won 2nd place in her Class with Kubota, and took home 7th in her Division.



Matt Fisher took 5 Limousins heifers to the State Fair. He was awarded 5th  in Senior Showmanship in his Class. Matt also was award 1st place in his class and 3rd place in his class in different divisions.  Matt was also awarded various places ranging from 6th to 4th in other classes with his heifers.



Carol Boswell took her Simmental heifer Rosie.  Carol was awarded 6th Place in Senior Showmanship and was award 4th in her class.



Alena Blevins took her heifers Paige, Michele, and Lindsey. Alena was awarded 4th place in Showmanship in her class with Paige and was awarded 1st place in Class. In addition, Alena and Carol showed Michele and Lindsey in the Cow/Calf Pair Class where they were awarded Grand Champion in the Division of Cow/Calf Pair.



“I’m very excited and pleased with our accomplishments,” said Michele Curts, Chipley FFA advisor and teacher. “The students work very hard and care for these animals on a daily basis.  Our FFA chapter is continually pushing to better ourselves and be a top competitive chapter within the State of Florida.”



The parents of the FFA Show Team want to congratulate the team on such an amazing accomplishment and want them to know how proud they are of the team.
