VERNON — The Vernon Yellow Jackets took two commanding wins from the Ponce de Leon Pirates, with the varsity boys winning 37-69.



The Jackets drew first blood with a three-pointer and they never slowed down, finishing the first period with a 16-9 lead, which was stretched to a 39-15 halftime advantage.



“By the middle of the third, we didn’t use a starter,” said coach Ryan Collins.



The junior varsity boys bested their Pirate opponents 45-27.



The Yellow Jackets travels to Altha Tuesday to take on the Wildcats and are in Cottondale to face the Hornets on Friday.



Ponce de Leon's Pirates are in Graceville Tuesday, then travel to Sneads on Friday.
