SPRINGFIELD Nick Nelson tossed five innings with five strikeouts while giving up one hit while leading Rutherford to a 7-0 victory over Bay in a prep baseball game on Friday, March 22.

Tyler Broxson finished up with one strikeout in two innings. Nelson had a three-run home run in the first inning and was 3 for 4, Dondrell Harris 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Tyler Bailey 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Rams (10-4, 5-1 District 1-5A.



South Walton 7, Port St. Joe 5



PORT ST. JOE Bryce Godwin was the losing pitcher and Tyler Worley and Ricky Pennington each had hits for the Tigers Sharks (5-10).



Holmes County 6, Freeport 0



BONIFAY Ty Russ threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts in guiding Holmes County to a victory. Jordan Worthing was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Kodi Russ scored twice for the Blue Devils (8-4, 5-1 District 2-1A).

Port St. Joe 10, Blountstown 2



BLOUNTSTOWN MaKayla Ramsey was 3 for 4 with a home run, Hayley Wood 3 for 3 with a double and three runs scored and Brittany King homered for Port St. Joe. Ramsey had four strikeouts as the winning pitcher for the Tiger Sharks. Randa McCroan was 2 for 4 with a double, Kayla Prowant had a hit, scored a run and Taylor Stalnaker added a hit for Blountstown (3-11), while Courtney McFarland took the loss.



Baseball



Rutherford 6, South Dade 4



OCALA Cody Roby was the winning pitcher with two strikeouts while giving up seven hits in six innings in helping Rutherford win its Big Sun Classic opener. Andrew Mask pitched the seventh for the save.



Mask was 2 for 3, Dallas Davis 3 for 4, Dondrell Harris 2 for 4 with two RBIs, including squeezing in the winning run in the sixth and Nick Nelson had a two-run double to give him 36 RBIs for the Rams (11-4). South Dade, a Class 8A team, fell to 12-6.



Mosley 13, St. Pete Catholic 3



DUNEDIN Mosley blew the game open with seven runs in the fourth and ended the game an inning later by the run rule in the Dunedin Spring Break Classic. Bowen McGuffin was 3 for 4 with a double, triple and two RBIs, Dylan Brown 2 for 3 with an RBI and Logan Quimuyog had three RBIs for the Dolphins. Andrew Deramo struck out eight and walked two for the win.



Aucilla Christian 12, Bozeman 11



JACKSONVILLE Bozeman rallied from an 11-2 deficit, but fell in eight innings in the P-Town Classic opener. The Bucks scored five runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh to tie before Aucilla Christian broke through for a run in the eighth to hand reliever Garrett Hall his first loss in four decisions.



Brandon Suttles was 5 for 6 with two doubles, three runs scored and five RBIs to pace the Bucks (11-4). Alec Aleywine was 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs, Christian Dillahey 2 for 4, Hall 2 for 5 and Lucas Carter started and lasted 2 1/3 innings for Bozeman.



Vernon5, Wewahitchka 4



VERNON Rashard Ranie was 2 for 4 with a triple, run scored and two RBIs, Jay Shiver 2 for 4 with an RBI and he also took the loss for the Gators (5-6).



North BayHaven 8, Chipley 5



CHIPLEY Cameron Moncrief was the winning pitcher and also was 3 for 3 for the Buccaneers (5-10).
