Michelle Cook was unopposed in her bid for re-election as mayor of Vernon.

Gary Owens came in fourth with 39 votes, but there were only three seats up for election.

City Clerk Dian Hendrix said a total of 77 ballots were cast in Tuesday’s election in Vernon.

“We were a little disappointed with the turnout,” she said. There were 43 under votes.
